One of the most common issues I see is that clients don’t fully explain the depth of their event before asking for a quote.

An event can mean many different things. A small private gathering is very different from a corporate event with speakers, branding elements, and hundreds of attendees. • Reviews and client feedback. Reviews often reveal something portfolios cannot: how well the photographer communicates, delivers work, and handles client expectations.

One experience that really highlights the importance of reviewing portfolios happened early in my career.

A client hired me for an event but had not properly reviewed my portfolio beforehand. After the shoot, they told me the photos weren’t what they had imagined stylistically.

To resolve the issue, we sat down together and looked at reference photo styles they preferred. I ended up re-editing the entire set of photos to better match their expectations.
